Well, really….

New Moon Mail

Spring is nearly here, and that feels wonderful and hopeful. There’s still a lot of wintering around still, and this newsletter is about holding those two things at once. Keep reading.

In addition to this, I am finally introducing myself to the world as a Health Creation Coach & Mentor, Yoga Guide and Workplace Consultant with a FREE Webinar next Wednesday 25th March. It’s been a long winter in the making. Get all the details below, and please come cheer me on and learn about the intersection of Yoga and Health Coaching, and how you can help yourself in times of stress in a sustainable way.

Feature Story

Between the Mud and the Bud

My favourite thing I have come across over the last few weeks is this sentence:

“This is a time of transition between Winter and Spring, and offers a myriad of contradictions: birdsong and storms, daffodils and mud, a new dress under a Winter coat” (Steer, R. Slow Seasons, 2023).

The last few weeks have definitely felt like that:

  • wearing a winter coat or a rain jacket one day, yet going out in a simple jumper the next;

  • focused on the work ahead yet fearful of the increasing economic uncertainty;

  • amazed with the work of incredible women leaders who are showing up with integrity and warmth to all the spaces that they support, yet disheartened by yet more stories of abuse of power in yoga and wellbeing spaces*;

  • feeling hopeful and optimistic in one breath, and yet stressed and ruminating the next.

As always, nature inspires and comforts when noticing how cyclical our lives are: it makes me remember a sentence my best friend always told me in school: ‘this too shall pass’. Yes, Manny. It will.

The light always exists with the dark, sometimes disproportionately, and sometimes in equal measure. It’s a balancing act.

How much time we spend in those spaces is possibly more in our control.

Here, I don’t talk about silencing ourselves towards toxic bypassing when we don’t want to face the darkness of the world. We must remain aware, and we must speak up. I believe this more than ever. But certainly thinking about where we spend our energy is important so we can show up with clarity and conviction in the ways that matter, and when it matters most.

I was certainly spending a disproportionate amount of time watching the news. And this was affecting my mood and sense of wellbeing. So when I noticed that, I replaced the evening news with something lighter - like a comedy show or a romance reality TV show (yes, I’m into those).

The doom and gloom podcasts/instagram posts that want to convince you there is something wrong with you before selling you the next right product or course? Well, I’ve replaced those with uplifting listens, like The Alive and Loving it Podcast by my friends and mentors Dr Rosy Daniel and Karen Mellers.

Simple swaps for simple shifts with small energetic lifts. That’s how we build resilience for the tougher times.

We may still be between the mud and the bud, but the turning towards the light is not only inevitable but a choice we get to make, even with muddy boots still on.

Keep on reading for some wonderful offerings still happening this month, including a Spring Equinox Gathering IRL, and a FREE Webinar Online.

Until next time, with love and grace,

Sarah

  1. The release of a new documentary entitled Twisted Yoga on sex trafficking in the Yoga World involving Tara Yoga in London and in Oxford (as well as in many other countries in the world).

This is a space to soften, reset, and allow winter to do its quiet work within you.

I am offering one more class online in this format on Friday 27th March, 7pm. After this date, I will explore how to integrate this deeply nourishing rest practice when the evenings are lighter and so many of us prefer to spend more time outdoors. Watch this space.

I also teach this class twice a month in Clitheroe.

Spring Equinox Gathering: Ostara

In partnership with Pendle Wellbeing Hub, 20 March, 7pm, Barrowford

This workshop is taking place tomorrow, and there are still some places available!

This Spring Equinox gathering marks the second of our Wheel of the Year events in collaboration with Pendle Wellbeing Hub — a seasonal journey we’ll be offering throughout the year.

Ostara honours balance: light and dark in equal measure. It is a threshold moment — a gentle turning toward growth, possibility, and renewal.

Together, we’ll move through an embodied yoga practice designed to awaken energy after winter, followed by guided reflection and simple seasonal ritual. Expect grounding, intention-setting, and space to consider what is ready to emerge in your life this spring.

These gatherings are about remembering our place within the natural rhythms of the year — and allowing that rhythm to support how we live, lead, and care for ourselves.

Yoga Beyond the Mat: How to Regulate Stress, Restore Energy, and Build Healtheri Habits

25 March, 7:30pm, Online (session will be recording if you can’t attend live, but booking is still essential)

Stress is something many of us live with daily, yet we don’t always understand how it affects the body or why it can be so difficult to switch off.

In this upcoming online webinar, I’ll explore how stress impacts the nervous system, why energy can feel depleted even when we try to rest, and how yoga offers practical tools to support balance—both on and beyond the mat.

We’ll look at how to gently regulate stress, begin restoring energy, and create healthier habits that feel sustainable in everyday life.

Yoga & Brunch

Yoga & Brunch

12 April, 10am Phoebe’s Skipton

The last Yoga & Brunch was absolutely phenomenal. Eight women shared movement, space, and connection in a circle. We honoured the women we are becoming and the women who have come before us.

After practice, we shared nourishing food and unhurried conversation — creating space for connection, warmth, and honest exchange.

A SPRING RITUAL BATH…OR SHOWER?

New Moon Reflection

If you know me, you know I’m not a ‘bath person’.

However, when I read about this ‘shower’ ritual in Fiona Cook and Jessica Roux’s book The Wheel of the Year, I found something I’d like to try to mark Spring’s new beginnings. Here’s what they say:

‘This time of year is often rather rainy, so […] a shower might feel more appropriate than a bath. You can make a simple potion to slough off old, dead skin cells and leave yourself feeling fresh, smooth, and rejuvenated”.

Scrub Recipe:

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • ½ cup of coconut, olive, or almond oil

  • Optional: a lemon or orange

Instructions:

In a mixing bowl, combine the sugar and oil, stirring with a spoon or spatula. For a refreshing scent, grate a little bit of lemon or orange into the mix.

As you apply the scrub gently to the skin in the shower, connect to the things you’d like to shed, and then imagine them washing away as you rinse with warm water.

Enjoy!
