Dear {{first name}},

I’m so delighted to be connecting with you again on this Full Moon, to share a few honest reflections on how to live well, really. And if you’re new here — welcome.

Last week, I inaugurated the bridge between my work as a yoga practitioner, and my work as a Health Creation coach and mentor.

It came to life through a free live webinar: “Yoga Beyond the Mat: How to Regulate Stress, Restore Energy and Build Healthier Habits.”

One moment brought everything together for me. A participant spoke about something many of us recognise:

“Wellbeing burnout.”

That subtle pressure to keep up with all the advice that’s out there.

Eat this. Move like that. Try this routine. Optimise. Improve.

Even the intention to take care of ourselves feels like another demand on our system.

And yet we also know that when it comes to stress, it is so important to care for ourselves. But how do we do it?

This is where yoga’s idea of life energy offers something both simple and profound.

What is life energy, in simple terms?

It’s the energy that keeps us alive. It’s what allows us to think, move, create, relate, and function in all the ways we do every day.

It’s the animating force behind your life — the thing that keeps you moving forward.

And our daily choices either build that energy — or use it up.

So when it comes to managing stress, restoring energy, and building habits that actually last, two things matter:

  • What supports your health (what research shows is effective)

  • What supports your energy (what feels nourishing and sustainable for you)

We often focus on the first, and overlook the second. But both are needed.

What the research tells us

High-quality studies on healthy populations show that the following practices can help to mitigate symptoms of stress:

  • Breathwork: slow-paced or structured

  • Meditation: over 8+ weeks

  • Yoga or mindful movement: 6–12 weeks

  • Heat exposure (sauna): 15–20 minutes, repeated

  • Cold exposure: adapted to the individual

These can have moderate to strong positive effects on the nervous system and overall health. So perhaps it is good to give some of these a try.

And yet…imagine this:

You try cold exposure because you’ve heard it’s good for you. You give it a few attempts. But each time, it leaves you feeling tense, resistant, and depleted. You end up abandoning it because your systems starts to associate “wellbeing” with effort, strain, or even dread. And you feel guilty and back at square one.

What supports your energy

Instead of asking: “What other advice from podcast X should I be incorporating to my routine”, you might ask instead:

“What leaves me feeling more alive, or at ease?”

And begin there.

From the feedback to the webinar, participants shared simple things they love:

  • Journaling

  • Making music

  • Knitting

  • Cooking

They expressed feeling happier and uplifted doing these activities, and more at ease with themselves and the pressures of daily life. They were being true to themselves.

Activities that feel enjoyable, meaningful, or even just slightly relieving
aren’t just “nice to have”.

They support your physiology.
They help your nervous system settle.
They make consistency possible.

And when you are feeling depleted or mentally stretched,
energy is the very thing that allows everything else to improve.

One simple practice for this week

Choose one activity you already enjoy or feel nourished by.

Something that gives you:

  • A sense of space

  • A small lift in energy

  • A moment of connection to yourself

Let it be simple.
Let it be enough.

Then perhaps make time in your calendar in the next week to start building your routine around it.

If you would like ongoing support

If this reflection resonates and you sense that something deeper is asking for attention, there are two ways you can work with me.
