Well, really….

New Moon Mail…and Eclipse!

I am writing this issue from Worcester, where I have been on teacher training for 10 days.

During this time I’ve been thinking about how my yoga practice and teaching is evolving, so expect to see more mechanics, bodywork and hands on assists in classes coming up.

On a spirit level, I’ve been tapping into my inner power and magnetism as I evolve more an more into my most authentic self.

Read on for what I've learned about how bodies actually move, and what it did to me to spend 10 days with people who also love this work. Classes back to normal from Thursday.

Feature Story

As you’re reading this, I am on the last day of a teacher training.

It's been on biomechanics, yoga therapy and bodywork — how the body actually works while it's moving, why — for example — one person's shoulder behaves differently from another's, and what to do about it in a room full of people who all arrived with different stories and patterns.

The practical part has a lot to do with physics and gravity. I can now build a class around the patterns I'm seeing in front of me and based on some simple benchmark tests.

It’s the art of personalising yoga.

I now understand more about why a movement helps one person and irritates another. I've learned a lot about how to help people move well, feel better in themselves, and settle.

So I look forward to bringing this work more and more into my group and 1:1 classes. If you’re interested in those, there’s a description of all my current group classes below, or contact me for 1:1 work.

My big takeaway (not about yoga)

I spent ten days in a room with people who had all arranged their lives — at some cost — to be there. Nobody was there reluctantly. Everybody was following a deep admiration for our teacher, but also for the wonders of the human body.

And what struck me, over and over, is how rare that is.

Most of us spend our days doing things we've decided we should do. Roles we grew into. Work we're good at. Obligations that made sense at the time and were never revisited. And to some extent, life probably has to have some of that.

But then, you sit and practice in a room full of people who've followed the thing that lights them up, and you notice how different they feel to be around.

I came away more convinced than ever that it matters enormously that we follow what calls us. That we sink into the depths of our being to really tap into what lights us up.

Being true to yourself, going towards what makes you feel authentic, alive and at ease, and finding people who are doing the same.

Why? Because the energy of authentic presence is inclusive, honest, contagious and healing. Because it has the immense power to change the frequency of those around it and transmute it into more authenticity, more aliveness and more ease.

Have you ever met someone in your life whom you felt was so grounded in themselves that it changed you (even if momentarily) for the better?

That’s what I’m talking about.

Dare to be yourself!

Tonight the light goes strange for a couple of hours during the eclipse. I hear it’s a powerful one:

It begins just before six, and by around a quarter past seven roughly nine tenths of the sun will be covered from where we are. It's the deepest it's been here in over a decade. If the sky stays clear, the Perseids after dark.

Worth stepping outside for and calling in your true essence.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Functional Recovery and Flow

Tuesdays, 7pm, Barnoldswick (KL Health Hub)

A small-group class blending yoga, functional movement and mobility to help you move well, build strength with integrity, and support recovery from the demands of modern life.

These sessions focus on joint health, steady strength, and nervous system regulation — so you leave feeling clearer, more connected, and capable in your body.

Accessible, progressive, personal and thoughtfully paced. *You don’t need to be a gym member to join.

Forrest Yoga

Tuesdays online 5:15pm and Thursdays 6:30pm, Clitheroe

An intentional and inwardly focused practice rooted in breath, core strength and deep presence. Forrest Yoga invites you to build physical confidence while staying connected to feeling — developing resilience without disconnecting from yourself.

Expect intelligent sequencing, long dynamic holds, and space to work honestly with what arises.

Restorative Yoga

Wednesdays 7:15pm in Barrowford & Sundays 6:15pm in Clitheroe (fortnightly)

A deeply nourishing online practice designed for the darker months. Slow, supported postures, longer holds, and conscious breathing help calm the nervous system and replenish energy.

This is a space to soften, reset, and allow winter to do its quiet work within you.

I am offering one more class online in this format on Friday 27th March, 7pm. After this date, I will explore how to integrate this deeply nourishing rest practice when the evenings are lighter and so many of us prefer to spend more time outdoors. Watch this space.

I also teach this class twice a month in Clitheroe and Barrowford.

Signature Flow

Tuesdays 10am in Clitheroe

Left to your own devices, you'd probably take it easier than this.

Signature Flow is a set sequence - spiced-up sun salutations, standing postures, strength work and it builds heat! You come back to the same practice each time, which means you can feel yourself getting stronger. That's the point.

A morning class that sets the tone before the rest of the day gets in the way.
Suitable for all levels. If you're newer to yoga, the structure gives you something real to build on. If you already have a practice, this is the one that keeps you honest & rooted in tradition.

TGIF Hot Flow

Fridays 5:30pm in Clitheroe (Fortnightly starting July 10)

These sessions take you on a journey of self-discovery, helping you find your strengths and embrace your imperfectly perfect flaws, all while syncing movement and breath in a creative, energising flow.

HOT FLOW is practised in a studio heated to around 35°C, allowing you to move deeper into poses, raise your heart rate, and enjoy a mental challenge that clears the mind. You’ll explore flowing sequences, vinyasas, and mindful breathwork, leaving you sweaty, empowered, and accomplished.

Some yoga experience recommended.
